Ultrasound imaging (sonography) uses high-frequency sound waves to view inside the body.

What happens during an Ultrasound?

During an ultrasound, a technologist applies a thin layer of gel to your skin so that the ultrasound waves are transmitted from the transducer through the gel and into your body creating real time images.

Because ultrasound images are captured in real-time, they can also show movement of the body's internal organs as well as blood flowing through the blood vessels.

When will I know my results?

You will receive your results from your ordering physician within a few business days, unless otherwise stated. A radiologist, a doctor who specializes in reading imaging exams, will read and compile a report of the image findings, which will be sent to the physician who ordered the exam.
