Diagnosis and Treatment of Heart Conditions

Come to our emergency department immediately if you experience pain or pressure in your chest, which may or may not be associated with pain in your arm(s), jaw, or neck. These are the classic symptoms most common in men. Women more often experience increasing fatigue over approximately a month’s time, sleep disturbances and shortness of breath.

You should also seek medical attention if you have persistent swelling in your ankles, feet or legs especially when accompanied by shortness of breath. The feeling of your heart pounding in your chest or irregular heartbeat may also signal heart problems.

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Weston County Health Services offers a structured, professionally supervised cardiac rehabilitation program to help people recover from heart attacks, heart surgery, stenting or angioplasty. Participation in the program can help improve your ability to carry out activities of daily living, reduce heart disease risk factors, improve your quality of life and increase your ability to manage your disease.

The services provided include medical evaluation, prescribed exercise, cardiac risk modification, education and counseling.

Together with your cardiologist, a program will be set up to meet your needs.
