Patient Account Representative (PAR) - Biller
Job Summary
As the Patient Account Representative (PAR) - Biller, this position is responsible for submitting medical claims to Medicare and Medicaid, experience is preferred, but not required. This position is an integral part of the revenue cycle team and requires attention to detail and experience with using multiple computer software systems. The Medicare/Medicaid biller is responsible for preparing, reviewing, and transmitting claims using billing software including electronic and paper claim processing. Following up on unpaid claims, researching and appealing denials.
Qualification
High School Diploma or equivalent
Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors
Strong written and oral communication skills
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Occasional after-hours calls may occur.
Must be able to access, find, and navigate each department at WCHS.
Positions requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry.
Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing.
Responsibilities
Obtains referrals and pre-authorizations as required.
Checks eligibility and benefits verifications for treatments, hospitalizations, and procedures.
Prepares, reviews, and transmits claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim processing.
Follows up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
Works with insurance companies regarding any discrepancies in payments if necessary.
Ensures each insurance payment is accurate and compliant.
Maintains records as required.
Has the ability to deal effectively with patients and co-workers.
Coordinates with other departments to ensure efficiency.
Attends and participates in staff meetings and other assigned meetings.
Adheres to accreditation and compliance standard guidelines.
Utilizes good communication skills to maintain positive relationships with clients, providers, co-workers and other sections in the organization and with other facilities in the community.
Maintains a professional, organized and clean working environment by following organizational policies, guidelines, and safety standards.
Completes Work Assignments in a timely manner.
